Washington English Center (WEC), a DC-based nonprofit organization, is looking for volunteers to teach English to immigrants and refugees! Join our community of over 350 volunteers to teach either online or in-person in downtown DC. No prior experience is required, as you will be paired with a co-teacher and receive support from our staff. You can also sign up to substitute teach or to be an online conversation and/or writing tutor. WEC serves several hundred adult language learners, including many recently resettled refugees from Afghanistan and Urkraine. As a WEC volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to be exposed to new cultures, attend free teacher trainings, and meet like-minded people at volunteer socials throughout the term.
Group classes start September 26th, but tutoring sessions happen on a rolling basis. Please check out our flyer with all volunteer opportunities here: https://tinyurl.com/556y5r6d and to sign up, please do so here: https://tinyurl.com/5euvkz7f
