ORGANIZATION: Project for Pride in Living (PPL)

PPL Scholars- NAZ Childcare Volunteer
Program Description: Project for Pride in Living (PPL) builds the hope, assets, and self-reliance of
individuals and families who have lower incomes by providing transformative affordable housing and
employment readiness services. PPL is looking for long term volunteers to help watch participants
children, youth in grades Pre-K- middle school, while their parents work with our staff around
resources and mental health resources. The volunteer opportunity would be hanging out with youth,
creating activities, drawing, doing crafts outside (if weather permits). Once a month May- October
commitment
Local Parks and lakes in central and north Minneapolis or at North Mpls:
* PPL's Eco Village residence (617 Lowry Ave. N. Minneapolis, MN 55411)
* 5:30 - 6:30 pm
* Dates:
o Thursday -5/19/2022
o Friday- 6/17/2022
o Friday- 7/15/2022
o Friday 8/19/2022
o Monday- 9/19/2022
o Friday- 10/14/2022
Responsibilities:
* Play and spend time with young folks’ via enrichment activities
* Create space with a youth using a patient, strengths-based, culturally informed approach
* Help maintain a safe, productive, and fun environment
* Provide feedback to staff
Qualifications:
* Ability to work independently and maintain consistent monthly attendance
* Enthusiasm to learn alongside young people
* Patience, understanding, and flexibility to adapt to each youth’s needs for the day
* Commitment to empowering others by sharing your skills and knowledge
* Experience with youth of any age, helpful
* Passion for working with youth from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
* Interest in working with youth at varied levels of academic and social development
* Comfortable interacting with parents/guardians
