IIBA is looking for interpreters fluent in Spanish and English. This is an ongoing, flexible opportunity, with volunteers needed up to three times a month for virtual, three-hour clinics with IIBA clients.
Clinic overview:
IIBA holds monthly virtual Naturalization Clinics where pro bono attorneys assist clients with their citizenship applications. Interpreters are needed to facilitate these appointments, by translating orally between the pro bono and the client.
Our clinics are held via Zoom, and they consist of a 1-hour training, followed by a 2-hour appointment with the client in a private Zoom breakout room. Volunteer interpreters receive a thorough training on naturalization, in addition to the clinic logistics and our case management software.
We provide a translated version of all the forms and questions, so volunteers do not need to know Spanish legal terminology but must be sufficiently fluent in Spanish to carry on a conversation with the clients and provide accurate translations.
IIBA staff is available at all times to offer assistance and answer questions.Upcoming clinic dates:
May 18 - 10:00am - 1:00pm
May 24 - 10:00am - 1:00pm
June 7 - 10:00am - 1:00pm
June 15 - 10:00am - 1:00pm
July 12 - 10:00am - 1:00pm
July 20 - 10:00am - 1:00pm
July 25 - 10:00am - 1:00pm
When you express interest in this opportunity, please indicate for which dates you're available.
