Mission Statement

The International Institute of the Bay Area welcomes, educates and serves immigrants, refugees and their families as they join and contribute to the community.

Description

The International Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA) welcomes, educates and serves immigrants, refugees, and their families as they join and contribute to the community. Formed in 2007 as the result of the merger between the International Institute of San Francisco and the International Institute of the East Bay, IIBA continues the 90 year legacy of its parent organizations, with offices in San Francisco, Redwood City, Napa, Antioch, Fremont and Oakland. Current programs include legal services for immigration and naturalization, as well as citizenship and civic education.

Our Vision:

Immigrants, including youth and seniors, will be viewed positively, and will be acknowledged as resources in the community.

Immigrants will have access to the information they need to understand and exercise their rights and responsibilities.

Immigrants and their families will be effectively served through collaborative efforts of local and regional service providers.

More immigrant families will have stable legal status.

Core Values:

We believe that equal and informed access to justice empowers people in vulnerable positions.

Our global perspective motivates us to be respectful, inclusive and open-minded.

Our work is enriched by the knowledge and diversity of our clients, partners and staff.

IIBA's San Mateo County Office, located inside the Fair Oaks Community Center in Redwood City since 1974, continues to provide naturalization, legal immigration services, and civic education and participation programs, serving over 4,000 families last year. Our services are provided on a sliding fee scale, based on income, or free.
