ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT SOCIAL MEDIAINTERNSHIP
We seek a high-achieving student or professional to join us an intern and to manage, post to, and grow our Environmental and Climate Change social media accounts.
You will work 2 to 3 hours per week (if you want to work more or fewer hours, please see our other opportunities below). Your role will include:
* helping develop our social media strategy * finding stories and developing ideas * posting content to our Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts * identifying and engaging with experts and influencersABOUT US
The New York Times called our nonprofit, ChangingThePresent.org,"an Amazon.com of the nonprofit world." We help channel to leading nonprofits some of the $450 billion Americans spend each year buying birthday, wedding, and holiday presents. We do this by making the experience of a donation, which you give in a friend’s name, feel like a rewarding present and a nice alternative to buying yet more unwanted merchandise.
Imagine the impact we can make together as more and more people adopt this type of meaningful giving! Each 1% of the money now spent on presents is $4.5 billion a year to make the world a better place.
OTHER ENVIRONMENTAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR THOSE WITH MORE OR LESS TIME
We also have other Environmental roles that you might want to consider:
* Virtual Environmental internship:10 to 40 hours per week.Assume a leadership role on our environmental team. For more information about that more extensive role, please see [URL]).
* Community Engagement Interns:4 hours per weekRaise awareness of Environmental issues and our program at your college.
* Ambassador for the Environment:Just 1 minute per day. (That is not a typo).Do a simple daily task to make a difference for the environment.

We offer a great experience and the opportunity to make a difference. However, as an emerging nonprofit, we only have unpaid positions. Some colleges have funding for students interning with nonprofits, and we are glad to participate in those programs.
CREDIT
Many colleges offer credit for internships, and we are happy to participate.

We are based in New York City, but since the start of the pandemic, we have been 100% virtual. Work from wherever you like (our most distant intern was in Mongolia), wear what you want, and don’t waste time commuting.

ChangingThePresent is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which helps channel to nonprofits some of the $250 Americans spend each year on birthday, holiday, and other gifts, by making the experience of giving a donation in a friend’s name feel like a gift with tangible giving opportunities, wish lists, registries, and beautiful, personalized printed greeting cards. The New York Times referred to the site as an "amazon.com of the nonprofit world." You may recognize this as the approach proven by Heifer International, which raises $115 million a year by letting people donate to fund farm animals in a friend’s name. If farm animals can attract that much money, imagine how much is available for more popular causes.
