The Musical Instrument Museum

The Experience Gallery is a museum space where guests have an opportunity to touch and play instruments from around the world. Whether playing a Theremin alone or participating in an impromptu drum circle with others, guests can choose how they spend their time in the Experience Gallery.

Volunteer Team Members foster a welcoming, positive, and safe environment for all guests. Being a musician is not required to become an Experience Gallery Guide. Training is provided so you can learn about the instruments and be given tips on how to create a supportive and educational atmosphere.

Time Commitment

Being an Experience Gallery Guide at MIM is a flexible commitment. Volunteer Team Members choose their schedule based on their needs and convenience.

For questions or to apply, e-mail Volunteer@MIM.org or call 480.245.6915.

About Musical Instrument Museum

Location:

4725 East Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix, AZ 85050, US

Mission Statement

The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) enriches our world by collecting, preserving, and making accessible an astonishing variety of musical instruments and performance videos from every country in the world. MIM offers guests a welcoming and fun experience, incomparable interactive technology, dynamic programming, and exceptional musical performances. MIM fosters appreciation of the world’s diverse cultures by showing how we innovate, adapt, and learn from each other to create music--the language of the soul.

Description

MIM displays more than 6,800 instruments collected from around 200 of the world’s countries and territories. Most displays are enhanced by state-of-the-art audio and video technologies that allow guests to see the instruments, hear their sounds, and observe them being played in their original contexts-performances that are often as spectacular as the instruments themselves. What’s more, all guests are invited to play instruments from around the world in the Experience Gallery. They can also see instruments from music icons such as John Lennon, Taylor Swift, Elvis Presley (r), Carlos Santana, and many more in the Artist Gallery.
