Under the supervision of the Volunteer Manager, the Volunteer Specialist will administratively support our volunteer program, including volunteer acquisition, retention, recognition, and data keeping.
This is a volunteer position: flexible hours in a work culture that values the animal-human bond. Program administration is preferred.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary responsibility for outbound calls and emails to individuals who have expressed an interest in volunteering; sensitivity to applicants’ needs to determine their capabilities and interests
- Liaise and coordinate with OHS staff regarding volunteers needed and training required; solicit input from staff within their areas of expertise
- Track and follow up on numerous requests for information from both within and outside of OHS
- Experience using databases and Microsoft Office, especially Excel, in an organizational environment
- Problem solving and excellent communication skills
- In concert with the OHS staff, coordinate website content to support our valued volunteers

Ohlone Humane Society is a nonprofit animal welfare organization that serves the Tri-City area in the East Bay. We care for animals and the community through humane programs and services. Ohlone Humane Society is privately funded and relies on the generous support of our community through donations and volunteering.
As one of the few humane societies that maintains a wildlife rehabilitation center, Ohlone Humane Society truly advocates for all creatures--from injured or orphaned native species to abandoned companion animals.
