Fit After 50 Exercise Program

We’re actively seeking volunteer instructors for the Joslyn Senior Center.

PREVENT FALLS, and Increase Strength, Balance and Mobility

The Office on Aging is committed to continuously improving its investment in community programs that follow our strategic plan of "Focusing on a Healthy Tomorrow" by expanding its "FIT AFTER 50" Exercise Program throughout Riverside County.

Fit After 50 Exercise Program is an Arthritis Foundation evidence-based exercise program designed with an emphasis on improving strength, enhancing balance, and strengthening mobility with a stead-fast inclusion of preventing falls! By using stretching, upper and lower body resistance, and core exercises, the Fit After 50 Program has proven itself to prolong independence and to prevent or decrease the effects of chronic illness.

Volunteer/staff trainers are certified by the Arthritis Foundation they are trained on issues facing older adults: functionality, mobility and flexibility with sensitivity to joint replacement, arthritis, and balance limitations.

This program uses resistance cords with graduated resistance levels to build muscle tissue and strength. This program also includes exercises to improve balance, flexibility, mobility and strengthening of the upper and lower body.
