Madre Latina Inc. is seeking an unpaid Youth Program Inter/volunteer to work on Young Representative of Waterbury group. This is a program of leadership and civic engagement for high school students. The Youth Coordinator Intern needs to be interested in gaining experience working in a social service setting dedicated to serving youths. The Project Coordinator Intern will receive training and hands-on exposure in the areas of case management, and family/youth support/care among many other areas.

Schedule:
Tuesday Meeting from 5pm to 8pm (3hrs)
Possible more hours and is flexible other days
In-person

Responsible for:

  • Organize project activities
  • Keep an active communication with Sponsors, Collaborators & Foundations
  • Assist on maintaining ML calendar of events & scheduling meetings
  • Writing and editing articles for Madre Latina Inc
  • Researching opportunities for specific families (i.e., various resources)
  • Refer participants to community resources as needed
  • Help us to develop lessons and activities for the group of youth
  • Research and posting scholarships for seniors students

Minimum Requirements

  • Must to commit to at least 10 hours per week
  • Must learn Madre Latina Inc. Guidelines and Program Policy
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Must be able to operate a computer and telephone system
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
  • Must be able to support the mission, purpose and guiding values of Madre Latina Inc. at all times
  • Must be able to function both independently and on a team
  • Must understand and maintain proper boundaries between staff and families
  • Bilingual is a plus
