Assist those who are homeless by helping identify housing:
Assist clients who have housing vouchers or Rapid Rehousing assistance in finding apartments. On behalf of / or with the client, speak with prospective landlords by phone, explaining the housing voucher (or short-term assistance) which the client has. Find out landlords’ expectations. Volunteer will work with shelter staff on housing referrals. This position may entail going online to various housing sites and cold calling to inquire about available units and qualifications for renting one of those units.
Qualifications An openness to learning of housing needs and resources of clients who are homeless.
An ability to interact respectfully with shelter clients and to interact professionally with prospective
landlords. No prior housing experience needed, though helpful.
Days and times needed: Weekdays, anytime 9:00-5:00PM; flexible scheduling
