ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Joshua Tree National Park is currently recruiting campground hosts for our peak camping season, between October 2022 and May 2023. Start and end dates are flexible, but hosts must commit to at least 2 months of service. RV camp host sites are available for a minimum commitment of 32 volunteer hours per occupant each week.


Hosts will answer visitor questions about the area, assist with the campground reservation system, and provide excellent customer service for visitors. More information can be found through the descriptions and website links below.


Black Rock Campground

Black Rock Campground is surrounded by Joshua trees and 5 miles from the town of Yucca Valley. BRCG has 99 campsites, an equestrian group site, potable water, flush toilets, and a dump station. The Black Rock Nature Center in this campground is an information center and bookstore. The host site has full hookups (30 amps) and can accommodate a max RV length of 36 feet. Hosts are responsible for their own propane.


Cottonwood Campground

Cottonwood Campground is in the beautiful Colorado Desert with 62 sites, 3 group sites, potable water, flush toilets, and a dump station all within the campground. There is no cell service at the campground, but can be found at the visitor center and 4 miles south of the campground, depending on your service provider. The host site is located within the campground, has full hook-ups (30 amps) and can fit max RV length of 36 feet. H osts are responsible for their own propane.


Indian Cove Campground

Indian Cove Campground is in the Wonderland of Rocks with 101 campsites, 13 group campsites, and vault toilets. Water is available at the small ranger station 2 miles north. The host site is located behind this ranger station. The host site has water, electric hookups (30 amps) and can fit most large RVs. The park offers weekly pumping for RV holding tanks. Hosts are responsible for their own propane.


Jumbo Rocks Campground

Jumbo Rocks Campground is surrounded by rock formations with 124 campsites and vault toilets, but no water. The camp host site is primitive. Water can be filled at a spigot at Oasis Visitor Center, 12 miles north on the park’s main road. Host site can fit a max RV length of 36 feet. The park offers weekly pumping for RV holding tanks. Hosts are responsible for their own propane.


Ryan Campground

Ryan Campground is centrally located with 31 campsites, 4 equestrian sites, 3 bicycle sites, and vault toilets. RCG has no water, electric, or cell service - including the host site. Water and cell service can be found within a 14 mile drive to the park's west entrance gate. Host site can fit a max RV length of 26 feet. The park offers weekly pumping for RV holding tanks. Hosts are responsible for their own propane.
