For 25 years, HOPE Tutoring has been offering free tutoring and academic enrichment services to low-income children in Arlington, Texas.

HOPE Tutoring needs volunteers to help with its summer reading camp. This camp will be offered free of charge to children in grades 2-5 in Arlington. Activities are intentionally short and focused. Volunteers will read to and with the children, they will write briefly in journals with the children, and they will teach students some proven spelling techniques (which will be taught to volunteers in advance).

Morning reading camp will be held July 11-15 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Downtown Library Branch. (An additional afternoon reading camp will be held on the same dates but from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at the Southeast Branch. You can choose both afternoon and morning if you'd like to volunteer for both.)

Volunteers must be able to attend all five days of their shift(s).

A 1.5-hour training session will be held in advance of the camp. You may choose from one of the following times:
- July 7 - 6:30-8:00 p.m. - Downtown Library
- July 9 - 10:00-11:30 a.m. - Downtown Library

All volunteers must complete a criminal background check and review our handbook.
