Our Docent Family

The CCMH is needing volunteers for day to day activities. Each year, our volunteers contribute to the cultural vibrancy of this great city by donating their time to CCMH. Men and women of different backgrounds, from high school students to retirees, help the museum to meet its goal of bringing art, culture and history into the lives of people throughout Houston’s communities. At CCMH, volunteer opportunities encompass a broad range of abilities and interests. Options include leading tours of the museum galleries, archive organization, greeting guests, and facilitating children’s art projects.

About Czech Center Museum Houston

Location:

4920 San Jacinto, Houston, TX 77004, US

Mission Statement

The Czech Center Museum Houston provides unique education experiences based on authentic objects, art, music, stories and lives of Czechs, Slovaks and people of all cultures, who left their country to seek liberty and democracy in America. Our purpose is to inspire people to learn from those who sought freedom despite being occupied by oppressing rulers and systems. The museum strives to be an accessible resource, actively encouraging the study, appreciation, understanding and enjoyment of diverse cultures and traditions. We promote art, music and dance as well as celebrate history and stories of immigrant experiences shared by Americans. The Czech Center Museum Houston is proud to be one of Houston’s eighteen fine museums, dedicated to the exploration and preservation of art, culture & history, and serve as a catalyst for discussion of all heritages.

Description

Our intent is to teach people to be proud of their own culture while teaching them not just about the Eastern European countries but also about art, culture and heritage from other countries. The Czech Center Museum Houston is an elegant, small museum focusing on the education of European art & history in a global context.

Are you interested in arts as well as history, than become a docent at the Czech Center Museum Houston and enjoy once per week the feeling of a small baroque palace in Texas, Houston!

We are all volunteers, even the founders, Effie & Bill Rosene except for our Event Coordinator and Development Director. There are many fun events held throughout the year and we welcome you to participate.
