About the Children Mending Hearts at Jordan Downs Center mission:

Empathy is a positive predictor of reading and math test scores, as well as critical thinking skills. It decreases bullying, aggression, prejudice, and racism. It also prepares kids to be global citizens and is a cited strength in leadership success and excellent performance in the job market. This is why through everything we do and everything we offer, you will find empathy. Jordan Downs is a community and Children Mending Hearts will support the community’s growth, and help the families of Jordan Downs succeed; We want to help not only their basic needs, but their sense of belonging, their esteem needs, and their cognitive needs through appropriate programming. Mission Statement

CHILDREN MENDING HEARTS IS DEDICATED TO COMBATING BULLYING AND INTOLERANCE BY INSPIRING EMPATHY IN CHILDREN THROUGH ART AND SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAMS.

Description

We need volunteers to help pack the art projects to be sent to teachers across the USA to help them teach empathy and kindness in their classrooms.

Since 2008, Children Mending Hearts has been dedicated to bringing an end to bullying and intolerance. Our nonprofit accomplishes this by teaching children about the concept of empathy. We inspire them to be positive change-makers through arts education and social-emotional learning.

Our results have been incredible. 91% of teachers using our programs say that their students have shown an increase in empathy and a decrease in bullying since the start of this year. But there are countless schools, many low-income/Title 1, who are on the waiting list for our programs.
