Mission Statement

Children Mending Hearts (CMH) was founded with the express purpose of empowering disadvantaged youth through educational, humanities and arts programs that build empathy and global citizenry. Currently, CMH is serviving 1,500 children weekly and the Global Arts After-School program is at 22 Los Angeles partner sites.

Children Mending Hearts is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2008 that offers programs designed to empower today’s youth by way of creative expression. Through teaching photography, drawing, painting, textiles and other artistic practices, CMH has reached over 12,000 children with a mission to instill empathy, a love of the arts, which supports their efforts in all of their academic studies, and expose them to a global perspective by including a cultural component to each lesson. While engaging in creative hands-on projects students also learn what kids around the world endure on a daily basis living in some of the world’s most underdeveloped countries or regions recovering from natural disasters.

They sent a spread sheet with volunteer assignments to all volunteers containing full names, street addresses, cell phone number and email addresses. This is a significant breach of privacy and not something which can be undone. I'm not in the habit of telling hundreds of people that I won't be home and then giving them my address. I am supposed to do something with them tomorrow, and I'm really struggling with this.
