Emmy’s Place provides practical assistance and transformation through "protection, restoration and empowerment" by giving a voice to those who feel marginalized and are experiencing, or have experienced, emotional, financial and/or psychological abuse. We primarily assist women and children who are navigating our legal system and who are experiencing trauma or are having difficulties due to past trauma. We focus on the practical needs (legal aid, accompaniment, and trauma informed mentoring/lay counseling) and the spiritual support piece of care. We also raise awareness of the implications that lack of meaningful access to our courts have on the most vulnerable. Our long-term goal is to create a full service, faith-based justice center to provide emotional support and advocacy.

We are looking for an experienced Volunteer Grant Writer to work in conjunction with the Executive Director to manage the full range of the grant process. An ideal candidate would have experience in identifying private funders, corporate opportunities and qualifying and developing proposals to foundations that have the potential to support a younger non-profit and ongoing program initiatives. Additional responsibilities include preparation of customized proposals according to each foundation’s guidelines, including: program budgets, timelines, goals, objectives, outcomes, and evaluation criteria for grants with the Executive Director.

This is a great opportunity to donate time, resources, and talent to support our mission to assist women and children.

Qualifications:

  • Grant writing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of non-profit funding sources preferred
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proofreading skills essential
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexible and strong work ethic
  • Desire to make a difference and be part of a unique non-profit organization

Job Type:

  • Remote, with occasional in-person meetings
