Mission Statement

Emmy’s Place is a 501c3 that strives to be a faith-based voice for the most vulnerable in our community. We seek to break the cycle of hopelessness by promoting access to justice through a voice of compassion, unity and faith. Our calling is to provide practical assistance and transformation by giving a voice to those who feel marginalized and by promoting a "justice model" that incorporates the concepts of biblical justice with practical steps and experiential opportunities. Emmy’s Place works to ensure all are able to access our courts and community services in a meaningful way when basic rights and needs are at stake.

Description

Emmy’s Place provides practical assistance and transformation through "protection, restoration and empowerment" by giving a voice to those who feel marginalized and are experiencing, or have experienced, emotional, financial and/or psychological abuse. We primarily assist women and children who are navigating our legal system and who are experiencing trauma or are having difficulties due to past trauma. We focus on the practical needs (legal aid, accompaniment, and trauma informed mentoring/lay counseling) and the spiritual support piece of care. We also raise awareness of the implications that lack of meaningful access to our courts have on the most vulnerable. Our long-term goal is to create a full service, faith-based justice center to provide emotional support and advocacy.
