Volunteers are the heart of Kindred Hospice and they provide a wide range of services that help to maintain or enhance the special "Quality of Life" of patients facing a terminal disease, as well as their loved ones!
Volunteers are needed to provide weekly visits to patients and/or their caregivers and provide services such as:
Companionship and socialization
Deliver comfort gifts to the patient's home --such as flowers
Serve as an advocate for the Kindred volunteer program and share ways in which we can further enrich the life of the patient.
Provide respite and support for the family and other caregivers.
Read to patients, play music, or games and just be there to listen and be there for patients who need companionship.
Duties include: Visit patients on a regular basis;distribute donated items, maintain confidentiality, abide by and support the philosophy, policies, and guidelines of Kindred Hospice. Participate in training as needed and required, keep careful record of hours served.
Must be willing to submit a volunteer application, screening and volunteer orientation and training.
Visits can be any day of the week. We are flexible and will work with your schedule and interests.

Description
Administrative Volunteers
Provide administrative/clerical support including filing, answering phones, mailings, etc. Some tasks can be done from your home.
Bereavement Volunteers
Provide bereavement support to families through supportive phone calls, mailings and visits.
Visitor Volunteers
Make friendly visits to people on hospice care in their homes or long-term health care facilities, and provide companionship and support to the patient and their families.
Tuck-In Volunteers
Make weekly telephone calls to check on patients/families to assess their needs.
Specialty and Professional Volunteers
Volunteers who want to provide specific support including music, vigil, art/crafts, life review video, spiritual support, handyman, etc. Also, those who want to share professional skills such as art and music therapists, beauticians and barbers and other professional services (volunteers must be certified, licensed or registered in the professional specialty).
