ORGANIZATION: Riseboro Community Partnership

Riseboro Community Partnership is looking for volunteers interested in spending one hour out of their week chatting with a group of senior citizens over the phone. There would be no more than 4 - 5 seniors in the group call. Friendly Visitors (volunteers) would facilitate a phone call with a group of seniors, asking questions, and getting seniors to share their stories with one another, encouraging seniors to build friendships with other seniors. Our senior citizens are unable to go out into the community and are looking for a companion to laugh with, talk to and enjoy their time with! (Many of our seniors are isolated more than ever and therefore are battling depression and anxiety due to the impact of COVID-19.) We ask that volunteers commit for at least 6 months.

Group calls will be for a minimum of 8 weeks or be an ongoing group.

This is a great opportunity to build your group facilitation skills!

We serve a diverse group of elderly and seek people of all backgrounds and ages (18 and up) to join us in helping our seniors feel more connected to their communities.

This Friendly Visiting Program is funded by The NYC Department for the Aging.
