ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

The Innovations Monitor supports the International Services Department’s Response and Recovery team track innovative practices and technologies with potential relevance to Red Cross Red Crescent disaster response through regular monitoring of a list of sources such as social media accounts, blogs, and newsletters.

  • Weekly monitoring of a list of online sources of information on innovative practices and technologies (social media accounts, blogs, newsletters).
  • Recommending new sources of information.
  • Adding details on relevant items into a spreadsheet tracker.
  • Contributing to a quarterly report out on highlights, themes, and other findings.
Building awareness and understanding of global issues and how humanitarians can use different practices and technologies to respond to various crises.

Qualifications:
  • Reliable access to resources needed to volunteer 100% virtually
  • Experience using social media platforms
  • Experience with with tools for managing content feeds (Ex: TweetDeck, Lists)
  • Experience with Excel spreadsheet tables to organize data
  • Experience in research or aggregating information to extract themes or trends
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Interest in contributing to improving the disaster response tools and processes used by humanitarians.

Curiosity and willingness to build new knowledge.
