Volunteer Operations Coordinator - Remote Opportunity!

Making North Texas a No-Kill city is a big job and as a volunteer-based organization, Dallas Pets Alive is a non-profit organization focused on animal welfare and saving pets. DPA needs a lot of great volunteers to do it. As a Volunteer Operations Coordinator, you are responsible for assisting Dallas Pets Alive! by guiding prospective volunteers through a process that will lead them to their role within our organization. Coordinators serve as the initial and central point of contact for all requests and matters sent to the DPA Volunteer email.

Team: Volunteer

Reports to: The Assistant Director of Volunteer Operations & Onboarding

Works with: Will have regular contact via email, phone, or virtually with the Volunteer Assistant Director, various team members, prospective volunteers, and the Leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and process all Volunteer Applications and queries in a timely manner
  • Maintain volunteer records in email and Google Docs
  • Analyze applicant’s skills, interests, & schedules to match with suitable roles
  • Proactively initiate applicant’s interviews with department leads
  • Act as a conduit between DPA departments and the Recruitment Team
  • Supporting expansion of volunteer capacity and engagement, allowing Dallas Pets Alive! to grow and save more animals
  • Assist with any other duties needed to help drive and support DPA’s mission

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Related animal/rescue or non-profit experience, preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A positive and professional demeanor throughout all communications
  • Must not have current conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare

Dallas Pets Alive! Musts:

  • Maintain professional level of correspondence at all times
  • A motivational, can-do attitude toward internal teams and general public
  • A problem-solving mindset to handle any/all challenging situations
  • A love for animals and dedication to the cause of animal welfare

Time Commitment:

  • Specific days/hours are flexible.
  • Average 2-3 hours per week.

OUR APPROACH

Our organization is run mostly by volunteers, and all of our pets are housed by dedicated foster families throughout North Texas.

We rescue and help the healthy and treatable pets at greatest risk for euthanasia at our partner shelters. We also provide assistance and resources to pet owners having problems so significant that they need to surrender their pets to a shelter.

In our rescue program, we focus on:

  • Rescuing healthy and treatable pets at North Texas shelters at the greatest risk of being euthanized
  • Reducing owner surrender through our Positive Alternatives to Shelter Surrender (PASS) program
  • Opening kennel space by transporting pets to partners in the U.S. and Canada in need of adoptable animals
  • Challenging the way our community views rescue animals. We believe that adoption is not only right thing to do but THE thing to do!

*At this time, we do not accept court-ordered service hours nor track community service hours.

*Our organization does not currently have an established office location, however in March 2023 DPA opened up an Adoption Container.
