Help remove invasive Italian thistle, horehound, viburnum and olive seedlings growing near the popular Shady Trail. This area has been cleared of larger invasive olive trees and an over-accumulation of downed woody debris over the last several years as part of fuel reduction efforts. This work which is beneficial to the natural environment in the long term, creates disturbed land in the short term where thistles and other non-native species love to spread. Plants can be removed by hand or with a small hand tool. Other restoration efforts may include dispersing woodchips, rehabilitating trails, and scattering piled debris. Ages 10 and older welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a waiver signed by their guardian).
Registration is required to ensure volunteers receive important details on where to meet the group and what to bring. Please sign up on our webpage https://volunteer.calparks.org/
