Help pull and remove invasive iceplant (Carpobrotus) to enhance coastal strand habitat on the Silver Strand SB bayside! Volunteers will use hand tools to complete this work. Iceplant covered much of the bayside until the mid-2000’s when a removal effort began and to our delight, native plants flourished where the iceplant once dominated. Today, the effort continues to remove invasive weeds to make space for beach evening-primrose and other native dune plants to grow. Ages 12 and older are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a signed waiver by their guardian). Lunch will be provided. IMPORTANT NOTICE: To complete registration, please visit - https://volunteer.calparks.org/opportunity/a3t4p0000049OR7AAM/silver-strand-state-beach You will receive important event information once you complete registration on our webpage. If you have any questions, please email volunteer@calparks.org. Thank you!

Help us protect and restore coastal dune and bluff scrub habitats at Half Moon Bay State Beach! We will remove invasive ice plant, purple ragwort, mustard and New Zealand spinach from coastal dunes; and remove invasive cape ivy, mustard, thistles and hemlock from coastal scrub areas. We may also sheet mulch in some restored areas to prepare for future native plantings. Reintroducing endemic flora creates a biodiverse coastal habitat that resident birds, insects, amphibians, and reptiles need to survive and thrive. All ages are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a waiver signed by their guardian). Registration is required to ensure volunteers receive important details on where to meet the group and what to bring. Please sign up on our webpage https://volunteer.calparks.org/
