The opportunity:

Our Finance Program assists entrepreneurs with setting up solid financial systems, bookkeeping, financial literacy, growth planning and projections, and cost analysis. Depending on your skill sets, interests, and schedule, we offer flexible and virtual skills-based volunteer opportunities. Time commitment varies depending on the opportunity and topic (from 1 to 2 hours for consultations to a few weeks for projects).

Your profile: You have experience working with business finances in accounting, information systems (Point of Sale, bookkeeping, etc.), or managing your business's finances. You are an early career finance professional, a finance/business student, or previously worked in this field. We also welcome Spanish-speaking volunteers able to support Spanish-speaking entrepreneurs.

How it works: We connect you with an entrepreneur (or several, depending on your availability) to support them with a specific financial challenge. We provide resources and support.

Next steps: Ready to use your skills for good? Visit our website to look at our volunteer options and complete your volunteer application here: https://www.startsmallthinkbig.org/volunteer . Please note: To volunteer, you must reside in the United States or a country with overlapping time zones and must be at least 18 years of age.

About START SMALL THINK BIG INC

Location:

132 W 31st Street, 9th floor, New York, NY 10001, US

Mission Statement

Start Small Think Big is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing equity and inclusion in entrepreneurship by connecting small businesses with the resources and community they need to thrive. - We stand for access and opportunity and get behind the belief that with a skilled partner, entrepreneurs and their businesses can thrive personally and professionally. - We create powerful connections with entrepreneurs and legal, financial, and marketing experts that provide assistance while building meaningful collaborations.

Description

We focus on partnering with BIPOC entrepreneurs, women, LGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs, immigrants, veterans, entrepreneurs with disabilities, low-income entrepreneurs, and formerly incarcerated entrepreneurs. We help identify entrepreneurs’ areas of need and provide them with free technical assistance across the finance, marketing and legal areas. We do this by connecting them with our community of corporate partners and skills-based volunteers - so small businesses have the network and resources they need to grow on their own terms.
