The pandemic has given the general population a deeper understanding of what life is like for older adults who may experience loneliness on a regular basis.
And though we all have struggled to make connections during COVID-19, older adults have been overwhelmingly impacted due to strict social distancing measures and limited interactions. Nobody knows this better than caregivers, who may have been their only social contact over the past year.
At Transitions Hospice we help provide the highest quality of care to our patients. Volunteers are a vital part of the patient care team. We are looking for families that would be open to adopting a senior for the year. This program would involve getting everyone in your family involved by having anyone 18 or younger write to your senior each week about their lives, questions, etc. Then the adults in the household would then come in once a week to read the letter(s) to the senior and help them communicate back to your child. This creates a family bonding experience for everyone to enjoy. Our patients have lived amazing lives and enjoy sharing their stories with others and having someone for even an hour to talk to makes the world a difference in their lives.
