Kenai Mountains-Turnagain Arm National Heritage Area, in partnership with the Alaska Public Lands Information Center, is seeking multiple program volunteers for the Anchorage Outdoor School program. All work is directed toward providing students with safe, inclusive, and quality outdoor experiences. AOS is focused on connecting students to their local public lands, resources, and recreation opportunities through experiential and place-based outdoor education.
This position includes participation in the Spring 2022 session of Outdoor School as a Field Instructor or General Program volunteer. Successful volunteers are energetic, professional, comfortable working with elementary school students, and team oriented. A range of volunteer opportunities are available depending on experience and area of interest. Training and an uniform item are provided.
Programming takes place on Wednesdays & Thursdays, 9AM to 4PM. The Spring 2022 session is a 6-week program with positions starting March 21 st , 2022 and ending April 29 th , 2022. Field Instructor volunteers are required to sign up for a minimum of 2 consecutive days to participate but are welcomed to sign up for more. General Program volunteers are required to sign up for a minimum of a half a day to participate but are welcomed to sign up for more over the 6-week program. Individuals and partners are welcome to apply.
Covid-19 Safety: This program takes place entirely outdoors with masking encouraged where social distancing cannot be maintained.
