ORGANIZATION: Monumental Impact

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

In our makerspace high school students have an opportunity to explore their interests in technology and engineering. Our nonprofit offers high school students internships under our social enterprise to Go-To-Market with their product, service or event ideas. In our facility D38's Bearbotics FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 4068 and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams (#s 19541, 19970 and 20771) hold their team meetings and build their competitive robots. We also offer Open Build times for high school students to come in to explore projects. Starting in 2022 we will begin offering Summer Camps to provide opportunities for younger students to be inspired to continue their interests in technology and engineering. Mentors are available to students with their projects and / or they can share projects that they are doing at work or as a hobby to encourage student interests in these fields.

In this volunteer opportunity as a Community Development Coordinator you will be building our community of students, mentors and connections to industry partners. This includes organizing and leading events that engage conversations and build the community among students, among mentors and across students and mentors. For our interns we need your help in identifying and partnering with businesses that could offer our interns (and other student community members) an experience that helps them understand their own interests and potential career pathway.

Times that we are open varies. In most cases students are in our space in the evening from 5:30-8:30pm. Summers are typically busy the first two weeks, the week before/after July 4th and the last two weeks before school starts for D38.

Thank you for considering and we looking forward to joining our team!
