ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Primarily provides front-line customer service by staffing the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park Visitor Center desk and occasionally while roving on foot. Distributes information and orients visitors to the park. May provide short interpretive geology talks to visitors. Will provide informal interpretation at the visitor center and while roving on foot. Learns Park resources by reading books, reviewing maps and park research materials, and other documents previously prepared by park rangers and other professionals. Issues permits as needed and educates visitors regarding the requirements for climbing and backpacking, and the rules and regulations. Solo roving patrols will be completed. As assigned and with supervision, performs various administrative and collateral duties which may include preparing documents, gathering routine information for reports, compilation of statistical data, cleaning and housekeeping projects, assisting with inventories, photography, and response to information requests.
