The Salvation Army is addressing the 44 square miles of food deserts in Wichita. They will be focusing their efforts on three neighborhoods that are most in need and will be heading out with a mobile food pantry four times a week, from Monday through Thursday. The mobile food pantry will provide people healthy, nutritious foods at no cost. Two volunteers are needed per day-one who will help to drive the unit and the other who will help to distribute food. A Case Manager will also be present. Volunteers will meet at Salvation Army (350 N. Market) at 1:30 PM, help to load the vehicle, go to the assigned site, operate the pantry, and return by 6:30 PM. Training will be provided! You can volunteer as much or as little as you’d like.

RSVP volunteers receive excess medical, excess auto, and volunteer liability insurance. Volunteers that drive over 71 miles in a month are also eligible to receive gas mileage reimbursement.
