ReStore Core Volunteer Orientation
ORGANIZATION: Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles
Please visit the new page to apply.
How it works
Core Volunteers work alongside Habitat staff, future homeowners, and fellow volunteers at one of our Habitat LA ReStores. You’ll be trained for various tasks that support ReStore operations-from sorting and unpacking donated items to provide outstanding customer service.
Missed your morning workout? Make up for it by stocking shelves. Are you the go-to for friends seeking décor advice? Lend an eye to our merchandising and help set up our floor displays.
To become a Core Volunteer, you’ll need to commit to a weekly shift of four hours or about 16 hours a month. You must be at least 18 years old and complete the required training to take part in the program.
Perk Alert! As a Core ReStore volunteer, you can earn discounts at our ReStores, invitations to special events, and a t-shirt once you complete your training!
How to get started
Core ReStore Volunteers are critical to keeping Habitat LA’s ReStores running efficiently and helping to generate millions of dollars annually for Habitat LA’s homeownership and home repair programs. Habitat LA serves more than 200 homeowners each year.
To join us, please sign up for the Habitat LA ReStore Core Volunteer Program orientation scheduled for Friday, April 22, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm. The orientation will take place at our Torrance Restore location.

Mission Statement
Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Description
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to building simple, decent housing in partnership with families in need. Habitat assists very low-income working families who do not qualify for conventional home loans. With the help of volunteer labor and donations from service organizations, faith groups, corporations and individuals, Habitat is able to sell the homes to our partner families at no profit and zero-interest financing. Monthly mortgage payments go into the Revolving Fund for Humanity, which helps build homes for more families. Partner families must also invest 500 hours of sweat equity to help build their own homes as well as the homes of their future neighbors. In this way, Habitat offers a hand up, not a hand out.
Volunteers are the heart of Habitat for Humanity. We depend on individuals and groups to help us achieve our goal of eliminating poverty housing and making decent, affordable homes a reality for all families. Homeowner families have seen their lives transformed, becoming stronger members of society and making a difference in the community.
