Help Abuse Victims, By Driving!

Families to Freedom

It takes a lot to leave an abuser -- Courage. Planning. Resources. Help.

We get calls for service every day from survivors trying to start a new life, but without volunteer drivers we can only honor a few. Drivers like you are needed!

Assist victims fleeing from their abusers by driving them to safety! You choose the distance you're willing to travel - whether across town or across the country - and Families to Freedom handles the rest. We just need you to be 21+, have a good driving record, pass a background check, and a heart to help.

We ONLY allow our volunteers to pick-up survivors in a safe public place, usually in Houston. Volunteer safety is our #1 priority.

Transporting a survivor travelling with children? We prepare the carseat for you. Worried about the cost of gas, tolls, food and lodging? We pay it. Don't want to use your personal car? Use one of ours. Not sure you'll be up for a trip when one comes along? Decline any drive you wish with no pressure from us.

Start the process at For more details or answers to specific questions call for an Operations Manager at 346-386-6767. Orientation and training can be conducted virtually or in our Houston office.

Mission Statement

Our mission is transport victims of domestic abuse to safety.

Families to Freedom provides free transportation services to victims and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. We make it possible for victims and new survivors to get far away from abusive relationships. Our life-saving services include car rides to domestic violence shelters across North Texas, road trips to family homes in other states, multi-state bus tickets, and fuel assistance to relocate far away. We serve shelter survivors across North Texas as well as hotline callers not yet in a safe place. We serve over 550 victims and children each year, and relies on the generous support of the Dallas community to continue providing these services at no cost to clients.
