Help victims escape abuse by volunteering to drive them to safety! You choose the distance you're willing to travel - whether across town or across the country - and Families to Freedom handles the rest. Pick-up from a safe public place and drive to a safe shelter or family home far away. Volunteer safety is our #1 priority! This mission is important, but impossible without YOU as our volunteer driver. Transporting a survivor traveling with children? We provide and install child car seats. Worried about the cost of gas, tolls, food and lodging? We pay it. Don't want to use your personal car? Use one of ours. Not sure you'll be up for a trip when one comes along? Do you have a desire to help victims of domestic violence? Do you have extra time on your hands? This might be the volunteer opportunity you've been looking for! Families to Freedom is an organization that depends on volunteer drivers and we urgently need amazing people like you to drive victims to safety. We receive calls from victims every day, but we are unable to meet every need without your help! Volunteer drivers pick up victims at a public location and bring them to a safe location such as a family or friend far away or to a domestic violence shelter in the Houston and surrounding area. Volunteer safety is our #1 priority and we have strict protocols to keep you safe. Travel costs are paid for by the organization including: food, lodging, and gas. You also have the option to use our company vehicle for travel.You get to pick how far you want to drive: across town or beyond the Texas border. Exploring America and saving people from abuse - sounds like a dream! Critera for volunteers: Must be 21 years old, pass a criminal and driving background check, and attend all volunteer trainings.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS WHO: + Ages 21+ + Have a good driving record + Can pass a criminal background check + Have a smartphone + Have time to drive survivors of domestic violence from a safe pickup place in North Texas to an emergency shelter or to a family home far away. HOW FAR DO VOLUNTEERS DRIVE? + DFW Road Warrior - Drive a new survivor to a domestic violence shelter, all within the DFW Metroplex. Weekdays only- daytime is most common. + North Texas Road Warrior - Drive a new survivor to a domestic violence shelter 1 to 2 hours from the Dallas area. Weekdays- daytime is most common. + Multi-State Road Warrior - Drive a new survivor to another state; this may take several hours or a few days, depending on the destination. Weekends, weekdays, holidays- whenever you're able! INTERESTED YET? KEEP READING... + You always choose to accept or decline a drive - No pressure! Set a personal goal to help weekly or monthly at your pace. + We arrange survivor pick-ups in a safe, public place - usually in or near Dallas. Feeling stir crazy being at home? Do you enjoy driving? Want to see more of the USA?? If you have a heart to help women & their children go from victim to victor after abuse, this opportunity might be perfect for you! Families to Freedom provides long-distance transportation for victims of domestic abuse to get to safety with family or shelter outside of the DFW area. We provide the vehicle (or use your own) and travel expenses for long trips- you just provide your time as a safe driver! Weekday daytime availability is in high demand! Must be 21+ with a good driving record, a smartphone, clean criminal background, and time to occasionally drive survivors of domestic violence from a safe pickup place in DFW to an emergency shelter in North Texas or to a family home far away. Pickup locations are typically from a shelter, hospital, hotel lobby, or retail store with security. You can assign yourself for how far and how long to drive! We help women and children get to another city or state depending on our client's needs for family or shelter. Great volunteer activity for those who are a little adventurous minded and want to be personally involved in changing lives. Families to Freedom provides the vehicle and all travel costs! Other detail Arranged pick-ups in a safe public place (not at the home of the abuser) Many of our clients travel with children- we install car seats so you don't have to! You can choose to accept trips or pass- no pressure! Families to Freedom provides the vehicle, fuel, food and other travel costs (or use your vehicle) Multi-state driving missions generally start in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon or early evenings You can share a road trip to another state with a friend or family member if they are also a volunteer!
