Volunteer to host in one of the most beautiful campgrounds along the Denali Highway! The Tangle Lakes campground is located at Mile 21 of the Denali Highway. The campground is approximately 1 1/2 hours from the Glennallen Field Office.
The campground is mostly open which allows campers views of the mountains, lake and river. The busiest time of year is July. The campground is usually full during this month. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) does not take reservations, so all sites are first come first serve. BLM relies on the Host to assist campers with finding a site and monitoring check out times.
The work schedule is either 5 days on and two days off, or 10 days on and four days off wit time worked including the weekends. Hosts receive a non-taxable reimbursement for each day worked at $42.00 per day. BLM provides gas for generators and propane for cooking and heating. The host site at Tangle Lakes does not have electric or water. All BLM campgrounds are remote. The Host site does have a dump tank at the site for black and grey water. Cell phone coverage may not be available. Hosts will be provided with Sat phones to make daily safety and data calls when working. Host must provide their own RV, trailer or camper to use while hosting the campground.
The Glennallen Field Office provides Hosts with access to laundry and shower facilities. Host will be paid .14 per mile for the mileage to the campground at the beginning of the season, and the end of the season to go back home. BLM also pays for mileage to and from the laundry facilities on the hosts days off.

Mission Statement
The Bureau of Land Management's mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
Description
The BLM manages 245 million acres of public lands and 700 million acres of mineral estate. These public lands and subsurface acres are integral to the lives and livelihoods of communities and families across the country. We promote multiple-use on public lands to maximize opportunities for commercial, recreational, and conservation activities. This promotes healthy and productive public lands that create jobs in local communities while supporting traditional land uses such as responsible energy development, timber harvesting, grazing, and recreation, including hunting and fishing.
