Help needed to rescue native plants along the new Salmonberry Rails-to-Trails project! The goal of this event is to rescue small native trees and plants growing along the discontinued railroad tracks outside Banks, OR. We will dig them out of the tracks, and they will be replanted at a later date at restoration sites around Washington County. Your help is needed to save these native plants before the paving begins! Please note: we will not be planting at this event.

Please arrive by 8:45am to sign-in and be assigned a work crew. The event starts at 9:00am. We provide gloves, tools, and instruction-- all you need to do is show up dressed for the weather wearing sturdy shoes or boots, and be ready to have fun!

How do I register? Fill out the registration on our calendar! Individuals and groups welcome!

Under age 18? We request that youth 15 and under volunteer with a parent/guardian . Youth 16 and older can volunteer on their own and will need to hand us a youth waiver form signed by their parent/guardian .

What about Covid-19? The safety of volunteers and staff is our number one priority at Friends of Trees. We are requiring that all people at our events are fully-vaccinate d (with the exception of those who are ineligible, such as children younger than 5, anyone severely immunocompromis ed, etc), bring and wear a face mask through the event introductions, respect 6' or more of distance from others not in their own household, bring your own water bottle and any other snacks or beverages you will need, and cancel if anyone in your household feels unwell within two weeks of this event.
