Our volunteers bring hope and nutrition to those struggling with hunger and illness. Join us at Project Angel Food!
Mission: Project Angel Food provides free and nutritious meals to men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses. Volunteers and staff cook and deliver more than 13,000 meals a week to 1,600 clients of all ages and backgrounds.
Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities: Kitchen and Dispatch shifts are
Mornings - 8:15am-12:30pm, Sunday thru Friday.
The kitchen also has an afternoon shift
Afternoons - 1:15am-4pm, Sunday thru Friday.
In continued precautions against the spread of COVID-19, as well as food and general safety, Project Angel Food is continually reviewing and updating our guidelines. The following safety guidelines/requirements are in place at this time:
* All volunteers must provide proof of vaccination, including booster (if not eligible for booster before Feb 1, 2022, it will need to be provided when eligibility is reached).
* Masks must be worn in the building. The masks must be KN/N-95 or doubled surgical disposables. This is also a requirement for delivering meals and special event volunteering.
* Regular/weekly COVID testing is encouraged. Information about several options can be provided. * All volunteers must be scheduled. No walk-ins or unscheduled family/friends are permitted.
* Minimum age for volunteers in the kitchen is 14 years old. Anyone 14 or 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
* An orientation will be held at the start of each volunteer’s first kitchen shift. This is mandatory. There will also be a brief in-person walkthrough for volunteers delivering client meals for the first time. We also have a virtual orientation option, via Zoom, if you’d like to schedule it prior to your first volunteer shift/route.\
Additional Information: We are located at 922 Vine Street between Willoughby and Burton. There is free parking behind the building (entrance on Burton) as well as street parking.
