We all have that favorite piece of clothing that brings confidence, comfort and familiarity when we put it on.

Picture that piece of clothing you're known for-that silly flamingo shirt, comfy sweats, fun tie, colorful shirt, etc. and the smile it brings to those around you to see you in it.

When a patient passes away, the AccentCare team comes around the family to offer bereavement support and one way our volunteers can be part of that support is by helping to create Memory Bears or Pillows. These tangible items give the bereaved something to hold, smell, touch as they grieve which is invaluable in their healing journey.

Through this volunteer opportunity experienced sewers take patients clothing and using a provided pattern, stuffing, etc. create a one of a kind keepsake.

This opportunity is done from the volunteers home and bears are dropped off to our office to be delivered to family members.

If you are looking for a deeply rewarding volunteer opportunity, then this is for you!

About AccentCare Hospice

Location:

741 Cool Springs Blvd, Suite 102, Franklin, TN 37067, US

Mission Statement

Act with integrity. Be compassionate. Commit to excellence.

Description

Volunteers play an extremely important role in hospice. Without them, most hospices would not be able to carry on their work.

There are some 95,000 volunteers in America. Each year they give more than 5 million hours helping dying persons and their families.

They provide assistance at all skill levels. Many are relatives and friends of former hospice patients who, having seen how much hospice can help, want to contribute to its good work.

As a direct patient care volunteer you would be providing the patient and/or family with emotional support and companionship. Volunteer activities with patients include watching TV, reading, listening to music, crafts, listening, talking and providing caregiver respite.

As an indirect volunteer you will be providing administrative and office support to the hospice team. This may include copying, answering phones and special projects.

As a volunteer you will provide care and support that is unique to each patient's needs. By doing this you can create a bond between you, the patient and family that is priceless.
