AccentCare Hospice Volunteers make a profound impact in the lives of our hospice patients and their loved ones. As a bereavement volunteer, you can serve families after their loved one has died by making low risk bereavement check in calls. Knowing that they are not forgotten and neither is their loved one helps in the grief process. Staff and volunteers make bereavement calls to provide a listening ear, help link families to resources and offer connection. After volunteers go through orientation, calls can be made from their homes or in our Franklin office. No previous hospice experience is needed, AccentCare Hospice will provide training and support throughout your time as a volunteer. AccentCare Hospice is looking for Veteran 2 Veteran Volunteers to visit patients throughout Middle TN in Davidson, Williamson, Cheatham, Dickson, and Hickman Counties. As a Hospice Veteran 2 Veteran Volunteer, you have the honor of supporting our military patients in the final part of their journey. As a veteran you share a special connection with patients that only can be found through the mutual experiences and code of military members. You will have the opportunity to offer companionship to patients in their home, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility while adhering to current health and safety guidelines. Volunteer activities with patients include: Listening to a patient's stories, presenting military certificates of appreciation, honoring a patients service through supportive presence, but most of all, supporting someone dealing with a terminal illness. If you have your military uniform and can wear it to present a certificate the impact is powerful, but a uniform is not required. Volunteers DO NOT provide any hands-on care such as changing a patient, feeding a patient, bathing, giving medications, etc. No previous hospice experience is needed, AccentCare Hospice will provide training and support throughout your time as a volunteer. Our volunteers are part of our team that provides excellent care to those at the end of life. Your gift of compassionate presence is valued! Volunteer time is flexible to work with your schedule. Volunteer activities with patients include: Listening to a patient's stories, reading aloud, watching TV, providing caregiver relief in the home, listening to music, doing crafts, but most of all, supporting someone dealing with a terminal illness. Volunteers DO NOT provide any hands-on care such as changing a patient, feeding a patient, bathing, giving medications, etc. No previous hospice experience is needed, accentCare Hospice will provide training and support throughout your time as a volunteer. As a Hospice Music Volunteer, you will collaborate with our full-service medical and psycho-social care team to help patients and their family members. You will have the opportunity to offer music to patients in their home, assisted living, or skilled nursing facility while adhering to current health and safety guidelines. Volunteer time is flexible to work with your schedule. Volunteer activities with patients include: Listening to a patient's stories, playing your musical instrument of choice, singing, discussing music, writing a song together, but most of all, supporting someone dealing with a terminal illness. Legacy Volunteers are trained to work with hospice patients and their loved ones to create a meaningful legacy project(s). We want to focus on the life that has been lived and not just the death that is impending. These unique projects help capture a patients life stories, wisdom, personality, etc. Each project turns into a priceless family heirloom after a patient passes away, something for future generations to cherish. Projects may include, but are not limited to-putting together a photo album/scrapbook, writing down life stories, cherished family recipes etc., helping create memorial service slide shows, taking pictures of patient hands for a "these hands" project, recording voice messages, creating art projects like handprint art or mix-media projects...the possibilities are endless. No previous hospice experience is needed, AccentCare Hospice will provide training and support throughout your time as a volunteer.
