Sanctuary Hostel is a project to create an animal shelter/ hostel/ community garden where we will work with other nonprofits in both Mexico and the US. Our model plans to be self-sustaining in that we will not rely solely on donations and thus not be at risk of returning animals to the streets. We have the land and are working with an architect to design custom buildings. As we are a brand new non profit organization we want to bring people into our organization to help us make this a successful project that can act as a model for animal rescues worldwide.

We are seeking volunteers to edit/produce videos to educate the public on the problems we are addressing, our unique solutions and offerings, and how they can help. This position is ongoing and offers flexible hours with specific responsibilities defined in collaboration with the Sanctuary Hostel core team. Responsibilities may include:

• Collaborate with the Sanctuary Hostel team to understand the type of material needed for the website, social media, and marketing
• Brainstorm and outline video storylines in conjunction with team; could be short clips, longer movies, or any length depending on the need
• If available locally, record video segments or take pictures for planned storyboards
• Edit raw video/images/audio with video editing tools of your choice. Receive feedback from team and incorporate further edits as needed.
• Attend core team meetings as needed to present status, brainstorm issues, discuss next steps, and secure guidance and collaboration
• When the time comes, a local volunteer would attend in person gatherings to take video/pictures of key Sanctuary Hostel milestones and events for future video use

Preferred capabilities include:

• Enthusiastic about applying technical and artistic skills for building our original media content
• Prior experience and knowledge using video production programs
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey technical concepts to a general audience and work collaboratively with team

Ideally candidates would live in the San Diego / Tijuana / Rosarito area so they can capture/coordinate/direct videography and photography for in person events, but we also need remote video support so this is not a requirement at this time.

All Sanctuary Hostel Volunteers:

• Shall sign a volunteer agreement upon joining the volunteer team.

• Have a fervent desire to support animals and eco-travelling. Honest, reliable and dedicated to the cause.

• Use clear and direct communication with no confusion or misunderstanding and comfortable working through conflicts with compassion and respect. Ensures cohesion and effectiveness by driving integrity and openness.
