As the Cabin Camp Host, the main duties are to act as a point of contact for camping groups during their encampment by answering questions, managing check-ins and check-outs, and providing assistance to visitors as needed. Hosts will also be required to give visitors tours of the camp. This position is on site and will assist with cleaning and stocking restrooms and cabins. Hosts are expected to be on site at least for Check In/Out and when camp is occupied. Hosts are the eyes and ears of the cabin camp; they should ensure that campers are following park rules and regulations and report any discrepancies to Law Enforcement. Communication must be steady between host and cabin camp staff. Operating Park equipment is a must. Equipment includes Table saw, hand saw, power drill, belt sander, leaf blower, zero turn ride-on leaf blower, zero turn ride-on mower, weed eater/ edge trimmer, log splitter, mule/UTV, pickup truck/car, trailer, paint brush/roller, ladder, hand tools- hammer, saw, screwdrivers, etc. Hosts will not handle any money.
Greet campers checking into camp. Be a friendly and helpful park representative for campers stay. Check in and out camp groups. Give tours. Be the eyes and ears of the camp, reporting any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Assist Park staff with maintenance and cleanliness of the camp. Some tasks require carpentry and plumbing.
Daily - Walk through of cabin camp- be the eyes and ears of the area. - Visual inspection of all restrooms and dining hall; upon inspection perform light maintenance or custodial duties as needed including stocking supplies and report problems to cabin camp office. - When camp is occupied, check in with campers daily to see if they need any supplies or have any questions. - Record Daily hours worked on Volunteer Hours sheet.
Weekly - Perform Check List prior to new camp arrivals. Check list includes fire extinguisher, light bulbs, smoke alarms, trash, restrooms and general maintenance needs. - Before campers check in inspect restrooms and dining hall for cobwebs and supplies. - Landscaping; Mowing, edging, weed eating, blowing leaves away from buildings - Clean kitchen area including stove top and grills and walk in refrigerator once a week. - Empty kitchen grease container into large 55-gallon drum. - Clean fireplaces, and fire counsel rings as needed. - Empty trash cans as needed. - Some projects in camp require carpentry or plumbing skills - (Summer) 2 x a week Monday and Friday open gates by 7am for garbage collection. 2 - (Winter) open gates for garbage collection 2nd and last Wednesday of the month by 7am
Monthly - Create monthly supply lists and provide list to cabin camp staff. - Inspect mattresses for wear and damage and replace as needed throughout the camp.
