AshaKiran is recruiting volunteers for the next 3 months on our crisis lines or Direct Services team. Our volunteers will be asked to organize client files, organize our, "Ray of Hope" bags for our residential and non-residential clients, update confidential data in our client databases, cleaning the shelter daily, organize transportation schedules for clients, organize volunteer schedules, assist with client appointment schedules, staying with clients when social workers or case managers are off campus. Handling crisis calls on our Ashaline each month on an as-available-basis after trainings with Ashaline Coordinator.

Description
Established in 2006 and headquartered in Huntsville, AL, AshaKiran, which translates to "a ray of hope," is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving individuals of South Asian and other foreign origins dealing with crises, such as domestic violence and sexual assault, by providing specific culturally sensitive services within our emergency shelter, our 24 HR Crisis AshaLine "Hope-Line" as well as our training workshops and presentations for other shelters and first responders throughout Alabama.
AshaKiran volunteers come from many countries and backgrounds, catering to more than 36+ languages and 100 dialects to overcome additional barriers individuals with foreign origins are faced with such as cultural, religious and language stigmas.
