Join us to answer the call when your neighbors need help!

Home fires and other disasters can happen at any time and in any place. Nationally, the Red Cross responds to a disaster every eight minutes. We're looking for passionate and compassionate individuals to become Disaster Action Team volunteers.

Our Red Cross Disaster Action Team members are second responders who provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery. We have people on call 24 hours a day/365 days a year to help those in need so we can work with your schedule.

Disaster Action Team members are needed throughout Kern, Inyo, and Mono Counties.

Requirements:

  • Availability to be "on-call" for at least one shift a week. If you are needed to respond the time commitment is about 2 hours.
  • Day, night, and overnight shifts are available.
  • Volunteers always work in teams of 2 or more.

When on-call, you can continue regular activities but must be ready to respond within an hour if called.

Virtual caseworkers are also needed to provide follow-up assistance to clients, helping them get back on their feet and connecting them with other local resources.

Ready to Make a Difference? Here's How to Get Started!
