ORGANIZATION: Yolo Hospice/YoloCares/Citizens Who Care

The Senior Peer Companion Program provides free peer support to adults 60+ in Yolo County. Volunteer Companions are compassionate men and women, age 55+ who offer skilled listening and guidance to help older adults navigate the ups and downs of aging. Clients are matched with trained companions of similar ages who can address clients' individual needs. Senior Peer Companions provide one-on-one visits, phone calls, or video visits once a week for an hour. Companions are trained to integrate their own life experiences as an avenue to help clients feel emotionally supported, access community resources, improve self-care, and maintain independence.

  • Caregiver stress
  • Family conflict/boundary navigation
  • Situational anxiety & depression

Eligibility:

Clients: Men and Women working through age-related concerns who are age 60+ and residing in Yolo County.

Volunteers: Compassionate men and women aged 55 + with an interest in helping others work through age-related issues.
