Do you love to post on Instagram or Tik-Tok or Facebook... or any social media? We really need help to both elevate and promote our Tastes of Brooklyn fundraisers for 2024- food and drink crawls around Brooklyn, plus our programs to support kids get healthy.

This is great for someone trying to get into the culinary industry or be a food photographer.

PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT OUR INSTAGRAM PAGES FOR SEEDS IN THE MIDDLE AND TASTES OF BROOKLYN AND OFFER SUGGESTIONS...

For all establishments taking part in Tastes of Brooklyn to support Seeds in the Middle, we do promotional posts on the Instagram page for Tastes of Brooklyn. We super-need help with that right now.

Plus - if you love to share cooking - join us at one of our schools for a Chef Night.

Help us promote Brooklyn eateries and bars and food businesses and do good at the same time.

We super-need social media help! Go to bars/restaurants/food establishments and interview an owner or take photos of food.

Help us recruit places for our spring Tastes of BK food and drink crawls.

This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to get experience in:
- event planning
- building events
- getting to know the restaurant or bar business, especially their owners!
- public relations
- digital promotion

Or just join us for the day to help out!

We need help getting sponsors and marketing and planning our events for the coming year
Here's some of what we need help on:
Before events:
- Reach out to food establishments to ask them to join Tastes of Brooklyn events
- Posting on social media about food and helping promote our struggling eateries via social media, etc.

Can you go to places and take photos of food and give us a fun, descriptive post we can put on our Facebook and IG pages? Want to create a Tik-Tok for Tastes of Brooklyn?

If you do, please just email us at tastesofbk@seedinthemiddle.org with a sample photo and post, highlighting the restaurant, bar of food business in Brooklyn. Tell us what neighborhood and what's special about it.

Read about our Tastes of Brooklyn. events at tastesofbrooklyn.com

Our neighborhoods to spring 2024:
- Bed-Stuy
- Gowanus or Flatbush
- Park Slope
- Franklin Ave. Crown Heights
(Want us to do another?)

Tastes of Brooklyn both helps us bring back our restaurants and bars and eateries back - but also funds good by supporting Seeds in the Middle's efforts to expand farm stands in low-income neighborhoods.

Seeds in the Middle has been working with Brooklyn communities for more than a decade to provide farm fresh food and influence healthier eating habits for kids, We know the terrible toll the virus has taken on our borough’s most vulnerable plus we know how much the businesses have suffered through loss of business.

Help us promote. Follow us on IG and Facebook @tastesofbrooklyn.

About Seeds in the Middle

Location:

153 Warren Street, BROOKLYN, NY 11201, US

Mission Statement

Seeds in the Middle partners with students, educators, parents & their communities to access all opportunities, beginning with improving health, enhancing arts education and greening their environment. We empower and educate all to get healthy and scale educational and social disparities. Our pilot schools are in central Brooklyn, a neighborhood with among the city’s highest obesity, diabetes, and heart disease rates. We teach how to grow, market, cook, access and prepare fresh food, how to exercise & engage in the arts, all the elements needed to promote life-changing lifelong health. Our volunteers come from all walks of life. We cross cultures. We transform gray into green, destitution into inspiration.

Description

Seeds in the Middle offers joyful, healthy interventions that nurture the whole child and address the multiple obstacles blocking low-income children and families from getting healthy. We teach how to grow edible gardens, run a student-led Hip2B Healthy Market, bring chefs into schools, started soccer, running and fitness programs at school and in the community and music and arts in the schools. We integrate professional development for teachers so that a healthy lifestyle and environmental stewardship becomes organic and sustainable in the school community. To build community, we created Soccer for Harmony tournaments and the Crown Heights Farmers Market. In two years, we have engaged more than 1,000 families, and students and teachers report changing their habits to include more fruits and vegetables, and fitness. This is a pilot for any school and Seeds in the Middle plans to replicate.
