ORGANIZATION: HarmonyCares Hospice

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 2 people are interested

Grace Hospice has several patients in the Lucas, Huron, Defiance, Ottawa, and Williams County areas that would benefit from a friendly visitor, like you, to do easy, fun things, such as reading, playing cards or games, or listening to music together and reminiscing. Most importantly, a lunchtime hero provides emotional support, not only to the patient, but their caregiving family members too.

Visits can be made as your schedule allows, and typically lasts a (lunch) hour. Could you become that wonderful hospice hero?

To find out more, please contact me, your Grace Hospice volunteer coordinator. Johanna Henderson, jhenderson@ghospice.com, 567-218-2075.

Kindly,
Johanna

Mission Statement

For each employee to treat every patient as their own treasured loved one, providing care that affords a quality of life that outweighs quantity of days, and supports caregivers as their hearts find healing.

Description

Hospice is the health care system that mandates the involvement of volunteers. This reflects the history of the hospice movement in the United States, which started as an all-volunteer system.

Hospice is designed to provide comfort care as well as spiritual and emotional support in the final phase of a terminal illness. At HarmonyCares Hospice, we focus on enhancing the quality of life and our Volunteers play a key role in our mission. The hospice philosophy reaches beyond the physical needs of a patient and ensures that a patient spend their final days in comfort and with dignity.

HarmonyCares Hospice volunteers are as diverse as our professional staff. Compassion and caring are the hallmarks of any great hospice volunteer, and their involvement is a vital part of our team.
