PHP Experts for New Social Collaboration Platform

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Earth Viability Center

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Wanted: Expert PHP programmers. We are developing radically new sorts of social media intended to help address the multiple crises facing humanity, e.g., in ecology, climate, economy, governance. First, a platform for youth to dialog about what sort of world they want and how to go about achieving it. Second, a virtual community center for dialog and action a) by a region or b) by those concerned with a particular problem area such as ocean pollution or loss of insects.

This platform must be a non-profit governed by its user community. Funding will be via the models used by Wikipedia and the Guardian newspaper, i.e. those who can will contribute and those who can’t will be able to use it for free.

We are bootstrapping the effort to develop working prototypes at which point we will seek funds via crowdsourcing and grants. By the way, we could use crowdfunding experts as well!

The platform for youth is intended to productively mobilize the vast numbers of young people all around the world who see that "business as usual" means no future for them. The virtual community center platform is also intended to mobilize masses of people but will do so via regional clusters or problem clusters.

The governance structure for the project draws heavily upon Stafford Beer’s Viable System Model and the policy development methods of the Democracy Foundation. The Democracy Foundation policy development method involves two main elements. First, a stratified random sample of all the relevant stakeholders is selected and given the time and resources to understand the issues and come up with a well-thought out policy (or proposed law). Second, the legislative body that must approve the policy (or proposed law) must adopt or reject the proposed policy in total. The legislators are not allowed to make amendments. There have been roughly 1000 such exercises in North America to date and the process works extremely well.

We believe this project could have a major impact on the crises facing humanity. Wouldn’t you like to help with this grand adventure?

About Earth Viability Center

Location:

Mission Statement

Earth Viability Center consists of an international group of scientists and educators who have 1) attempted to understand the root causes of humanity's multiple crises (i.e. ecological, cultural, economic and governmental) and 2) designed action programs designed to provide the most effective leverage in addressing those root causes of the current crises. Our website earthviability.org provides a (somewhat outdated) elaboration of these points.

Description

Earth Viability Center was incorporated as a 501(c)3 non profit on June 20, 2020. The currently active members represent eight different countries.
