Help provide a home-cooked meal to families with a sick or injured child! Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central and Northern Arizona has three houses spanning Phoenix and Mesa where your wonderful homemade recipes transform our dining room into Home!

Due to COVID-19, we currently have some health and safety guidelines in place for the protection of the sick children and their families that are staying at our Houses:

Health and Safety Protocols
In an effort to maintain a safe environment for everyone at our Houses, all volunteers will be required to follow the Houses’ health and safety protocols including:

Being fever free (under 100.3 degrees Fahrenheit) and not having any of the symptoms below:

* Cough
* Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
* Fatigue
* Muscle or body aches
* New loss of taste or smell
* Sore throat

Receiving a temperature check upon arrival
Completing a COVID screening
Wearing a mask at all times

Maintaining a distance of six feet from other families and staff and socially distancing from other dinner group volunteers as much as possible.

Volunteers will also be required to sign an agreement acknowledging they understand they may unknowingly be exposed to a person with COVID and that they agree to follow the health and safety protocols.

Volunteer Group Size
To ensure all volunteers can remain as socially distanced as possible while preparing a dinner in the kitchen area, we are limiting the number of volunteers in each dinner group to no more than six volunteers.

Vaccination Requirement
All dinner group volunteers must be fully vaccinated to be eligible to volunteer. Please note that a person is considered 'fully vaccinated’ 14 days following their second COVID vaccine if they received a two-dose vaccine or 14 days following their single vaccine if they received a one-dose vaccine.

All volunteers will be required to show their vaccine card or a photo of their vaccine card as proof that they are fully vaccinated when they check in to volunteer.

Arrival Time
Dinner groups are welcome to arrive as early as they wish in order to have ample time to cook their dinner. We ask that dinner is ready for families to pick up by 6 pm each evening. Dinner groups are welcome to leave once dinner is prepared and the kitchen is cleaned up.

Menu
Each dinner group is responsible for selecting their menu and bringing the necessary ingredients. The dinner can be as simple as spaghetti or as involved as a full dinner. We don’t require dinner groups to adhere to any specific dietary restrictions.

The number of people a dinner groups is asked to cook for depends on the occupancy of the House that evening, however, it usually ranges between 20-35 people per House. The dinner group leader will receive an email the week of their scheduled dinner to confirm the expected occupancy.

Serving the Dinner to Families
Our common areas and dining rooms remain closed to families. All families are being asked to pick up their dinners from the front desk or kitchen area and take them back to their rooms to eat. With this process in mind, we are asking all dinner groups to provide individual containers to package the meals.

We are also asking dinner groups to provide napkins and plasticware.

Beverages are not required but if they are provided, they must be individual cans or bottles.

After a tremendously difficult day at by the hospital bedside or at appointments, you are a blessing to our families.

Please contact Jen Donnelly at jdonnelly@rmhccnaz.org or 602-798-5093 for more information or to sign up.
