COACHING YOUNG BLACK GIRLS

Be a part of our See Her Be Her Coaching Program at I'RAISE! Let's empower young black girls in our communities.

The Coaching program for Black girls was an initiative developed and designed by the founder and CEO of I'RAISE Shanequa Moore. The purpose of the coaching program is to target the unique needs that Black girls face and to deter the focus off Black girls is to devaluing their experience.​

The concept of the See Her Be Her:

• Recognizes that Black girls are often invisible and ignored in society
• Black girls deal with intergenerational trauma stemming from Slavery in America
• Black girls have the lowest life outcomes of all other girls
• Black girls face higher rates of self-esteem and identity issues
• Black girls face a poor sense of self stemming from slavery in America
• It's important to give them a space to work through this trauma and heal.

Title: Volunteer Coach

Hours: Coach a young black girl for just 1 to 2 Hr/Week!

Commitment: Must be able to coach for 6 months

Location: In-person in New York City

Volunteer Coach Responsibilities:

• Provide valuable life lessons
• Be a foundation of support
• Provide guidance and encourage self-care, empowerment and development
• Encourage our young black girls to take a deeper look into the stereotypes they have faced or will face and how they can overcome them
• Address low-self esteem and identity issues!
• Employ your skills and experience while gaining new ones to uplift the next generation

Volunteer Mentor Qualifications:

• Coaches can be parents, teachers, school administrators, professors, doctors, college students! Anyone that is a professional individual committed to developing and celebrating our girls in our See Her Be Her Coaching Program.
• Black Female Volunteer. Our See Her Be Her Program is geared towards young black girls. Studies have shown that when students and children see a mentor or coach who look like them, there is a stronger or closer bond.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Provide three academic or professional references - full name, job title, email address, phone number
• Must pass background check clearance
• Background check clearance fee is not covered by I'RAISE. Must pay out of pocket.
