Becoming a Virtual Tutor - Volunteer I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation provides a tutoring program in order to assist students who are experiencing difficulties in school and are performing under grade level or need academic support. As a small non-profit company, I'RAISE annually matches up to 40 volunteer tutors with students (tutees). Volunteer Tutors spend one and a half hour a week helping students (tutees) by: Providing guidance and share helpful advices beneficial to their tutee's academic future Using their expertise and experience to help equip their tutee with academic skills that empowers them and builds up their confidence Assessing the needs of their tutee and create a curriculum specifically designed for their tutee to meet their academic needs Reviewing tutee's classroom or curriculum topics and assignments and teaching their tutee the skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills and approaches to answering test questions Tracking progress of their tutee Requirements: Must be 15+ years old and no prior experience is required Commit to at least one tutor - tutee session per week, as little as one and a half hour a week Flexible weekday volunteer times Complete the required virtual tutor orientation and have access to a computer and reliable wifi for online tutoring Agree to the terms of our Tutor code of conduct Easily apply by filling out our application form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeCtL5eLGIz5xaD6xBg2jFXioiKM_eTreQ6L5aHu-tv0TAOAQ/viewform

As a small non-profit company, I'RAISE annually matches up to 40 volunteer mentor with a student (mentee). Responsibilities: As a Volunteer Board Member, you will play a crucial role in the strategic direction and growth of our non-profit organization. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Strategic Planning: Collaborate with fellow board members to develop and implement the organization's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with our mission and vision. Governance : Participate in board meetings, provide input on key decisions, and adhere to ethical and legal standards governing non-profit organizations. Fundraising: Actively engage in fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and event participation, to support the financial sustainability of the organization. Finance Oversight: Provide financial expertise and oversight by: Reviewing and approving the annual budget. Monitoring the organization's financial performance, financial reports, and ensuring sound fiscal management. Providing expertise and support with Form-990. Collaborating with the finance committee to develop financial strategies and policies. Advocacy: Advocate for the organization's mission and programs in your local community and beyond. Annual Mandatory Events: Attend the three annual mandatory events, including: Annual Charity Event (December): Support and participate in our largest fundraising event of the year. Annual Gala (December): Attend and actively engage in this prestigious event, which highlights our achievements and fundraising efforts. Annual Retreat (August): Join fellow board members for a retreat focused on strategic planning, team building, and reflection. Committee Involvement: Serve on board committees or task forces as needed, bringing your expertise to specific areas such as finance, marketing, or program development. Qualifications: To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications: A deep commitment to our organization's mission and values. 2 years of professional or volunteer board member experience in nonprofit management, governance, or a related field. About I’RAISE: I’RAISE is a small women-led non-profit organization in NYC that focuses on providing youth mental health programs and services to the underserved and under-resourced communities in NYC schools through the Integrative Mental Wellness Model. I’RAISE is doing a Mental Health is All of Us 2024 Summit! This two-day summit brings together stakeholders in youth mental health across New York City. The goal is to share best practices, address policy gaps, and collaborate on solutions for improving the mental well-being of young people in our city. We are inviting educators, mental health professionals, youth advocates, policy makers, parents and caregivers, community leaders, and young people themselves (age 16+) to be part of this conversation. Event date and time will be shared once finalized. We are looking for 7 fabulous volunteers to be part of our Event Committee! Event Committees Responsibilities: Brainstorm and develop creative ideas for the summit program and logistics. Oversee various aspects of the event, including speaker selection, venue setup, catering, and audiovisual equipment. Coordinate with volunteers from other teams to ensure smooth execution. Contribute to the development of marketing materials and promotional strategies. Assist with attendee registration and management. Desired Skills: Event planning and organization experience.
