Quality of care is one of the cornerstones of our mission - a mission that could not be accomplished without the many 'helping hands' of our volunteers. Our Veteran patients often request visits from other Veterans, who can best understand their unique end of life needs. We are seeking volunteers who are Veterans, to visit hospice patients who are Veterans. These patients reside throughout Washtenaw, Livingston, Lenawee, Jackson, and Monroe counties, in their own homes and in various senior living communities. Our hospice volunteers have shared that they find their work to be personally gratifying and meaningful, and we hope that you will share in this experience.
Volunteers will be provided with ongoing one-on-one staff support throughout their service with us, and will be invited to ongoing education opportunities, and appreciation events. Our volunteers must complete an online application, interview, background checks, an orientation class, fingerprinting, and annual TB testing.
Arbor Hospice requires that any person who has suffered a personal loss wait a period of 12 months prior to volunteering. Thank you for considering this enriching and unique volunteer opportunity.
