Mission: To inspire a lifelong love for learning through play and fun.
Vision: Every child soars to their highest potential in a place full of creativity and connections.
Purpose: The purpose of the Board of Directors of the Pikes Peak Children’s Museum is to advise, assist, and provide leadership and overall direction in support of the mission, vision, and the next steps for how the museum will grow and develop in our community.
Term of office: 2 years, which may be renewed up to a maximum of 3 consecutive terms. Members are then required to be off the Board for one year before again serving.
Board Responsibilities:
The Board of Directors is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the Museum- The Project
Determine how PPCM carries out its mission through long- and short-range planning and review, and develop, approve, implement, and support the Museum’s Strategic Plan
Exercise fiduciary responsibilities, including budget and annual review oversight
Recruit, orient, and develop new Board members
Oversee fundraising efforts
Evaluate the overall performance of PPCM in achieving its mission
Ensure PPCM is in compliance with nonprofit IRS regulations
Establish policies for the effective management of PPCM
Evaluating and serving as an advisory role for the Executive Director
Responsibilities of Directors:
Understand and promote PPCM’s mission
Serve as a working member of at least one Board committee
Participate in resource development and fundraising
Participate in our annual give-or-get fundraising efforts
Advocate on behalf of PPCM
Help to educate the community about the PPCM
Time Commitment:Attend, in person and virtually, actively participate, held once per month.
Strategic Planning Session
Participation in community events highly encouraged
Attendance at major annual events and fundraisers highly recommended
Skills and Backgrounds:
Must reside in the Pikes Peak Region.
We are looking for individuals with expertise and experience in fundraising, grant writing/making, community engagement, education, culture and/or financial background.
Must pass a background check.

Preparations are in order to celebrate the 20th-year anniversary of the Children’s Museum’s founding. And in honor of this significant milestone, we’re reimagining how Colorado Springs’ first - and only - Children’s Museum can, should, and will, best serve children their families, and our community in a modern, accessible, inviting, inclusive, bold, bright, fun, and playful new way.
We’re filled with enthusiasm and are proud to reintroduce The New Pikes Peak Children’s Museum to our local and regional communities. We invite every friend, every neighbor, and all families to get involved and join the fun, because simply, everyone loves- and benefits from - a Children’s Museum.
We’re preparing a calendar full of unique and enriching experiences, educational collaborations, immersive learning adventures, special fundraising events, and vibrant celebrations, all thoughtfully tailored and carefully crafted to ignite the imaginations of every dreamer, thinker, maker, and doer. Our schedule of upcoming events will be revealed soon. We promise, this year will be one of innovation, engagement, growth, and fun. You won’t want to miss any of the action!
